The 9th Congressional District was held on Saturday May 22, 2010 at the University of North Carolina Charlotte Cone Center.
Delegates Attending:
Representatives from Mecklenburg, Gaston, and Union Counties, and registered Democrats in the 9th District.
The meeting was called to order by the Chair, Dr. Kenneth Baker at 11:15 AM.
Credentials Report:
By Ms. Robin Jordan. Gaston four members present. Mecklenburg and Union Counties Present. A Quorum was present.
The following recognized officers were present:
Dr. Ken Baker – Chair

Mr. Zach Deason – 3rd Chair
Mr. Ross Overby – Treasurer
Opening Motion:
The Minutes from the last Convention were discussed and approved by the delegates.
1st chair Ms. Robin Jordan circulated question forms to be used by Delegates and participants to ask questions of the U.S Senate Candidates.
The Parliamentarian for the Convention was Mr. Zach Deason. The Secretary and time keeper was Mr. Ross Overby.
There were no resolution reviewed and no Old Business to discuss.
TREASURER’S REPORT
Balance: $157.66.
A $200 debt obligation will put the District in the Red. A fundraiser held on May 22 should restore the finances of the District.
NEW ISSUES
Committee Positions Open and Filled:
Council of Review – Currently held by Mr. German de Castro. Ms. Nancy Rorie was nominated and approved to fill the Council of Review Position.
Credentials and Approvals – Mr. Ralph Belk III nominated and approved to fill this position.
Resolution Committee – Mr. Steve Porter will continue to hold this position.
Secretary for the 9th District DEC – Mr. Ralph Belk III nominate and approved for this Position.
There was an open discussion of GOTV. Mr. Joel Ford stressed the importance of having many hands helping. Having many hands doing small things is more powerful than a few doing large things.
Mr. Jeff Doctor candidate for Congress in the 9th District spoke to the Convention.
COUNTY REPORTS
Gaston: The annual fund raiser will be held June 11. Tickets are $25.
Mecklenburg: An annual fund raiser will be held June 11. Tickets are $25.
